Reviews
This book is great for any existing dinosaur lover or to light a spark for new dino interests!
The tale of how the first (and only) dinosaur fossil was found in the unlikely place of Sucia Island in Washington State is given in an easy to understand and very entertaining way. There is so much to keep a young reader engaged! The pictures are vibrant and interesting, and there is even a find the fossil picture where kids can test their skills at spotting fossils. Definitions for the scientific and more advanced words are also provided, making this great for all ages.
I learned a lot reading this, and I can just imagine what the readers at my school will get out of this book! Put it on your wish list now!

This was an earlier cover concept I loved.

A Dinosaur for Washington
The True Story of Suciasaurus
In the fall of 2024, Sasquatch/Little Bigfoot will publish my new book about the only dinosaur fossil ever found in Washington State. The Burke Museum tackled the recovery, prep and investigation of the fossil on Sucia Island, west of the Seattle coastline. I'm so excited to share this book with illustrations by my friend, Rick Spears.
This is NOT the final cover. It's a concept cover Rick put together just to get the process started. But I love it, so I hope a fine tuned version winds up being the cover. It reflects our old WORKING title, instead of the final title, "A Dinosaur for Washington: The True Story of the Suciasaurus."
Some of Rick Spears rough illustrations are featured below, along with a concept title page and a concept spread.
